Pre-ARR
Prior to ARR, Orion worked at his family's bar located in his hometown of Costa del Sol. He grew up with a younger sister O'kamile (Kami) with his parents (O’khani and Rhaya) all working together to run a fairly successful tourist spot. He had little archery experience beyond bow fishing and wished to learn more about the trade and potentially be trained as a bard in Gridania. One had passed through the coastal town when he was younger and it was a profession he admired well. Dancing was built into him from the locals, but he had not been informed of its fighting capabilities as of yet. Why he would need to fight was unknown, so his combat training remained focused on hunting practices that he wished to further in order to preserve his mother’s methods being raised outside of a clan.

ARR
Traveling to Gridania to train as a bard, the last thing Orion thought he would get involved in was the work of the scions. At first, it was a means of money and fulfilling idle curiosity, but when it became clear he had a part to play in everything due to his echo, things got a little too real for him all at once. On more than one occasion he considered just going home and leaving the issue to the people capable of fixing it, but something in him tugged to stay.Whether it was the word of Hydaelyn herself or the way Y’shtola looked when they completed a mission, who can say?Primal by primal, making a name for himself one battle at a time, Orion could only pray that the Garleans didn’t come for his family back in Costa. When Prae was complete, destroyed by the hubris of Gaius, and Thancred was recovered from the clutches of Lahabrea, he took a moment to consider what next to do. Pushed by the newly formed alliance and the development of the Crystal Braves, he felt no choice but to keep going. But still, that thought of worry festered and that fear furthered when he faced exile post bloody banquet more than ever before.

Heavensward
Heavensward was a difficult time for more than one reason. He was exiled from his home in the worst environment he could ever concoct for himself: the cold, the tall, the heretic outcry. There were pieces of warmth, of course. Haurchefant and the house Fortemps became a mainstay for his comfort along with Aymeric’s presence assured survival. His relationship with Alphinaud deepens during this time as they travel together more than they ever had before, making them a little more than just acquaintances like they were in ARR.After Haurchefant’s death, things slow down in Orion’s mind despite everything else speeding up. He starts taking stock of others more than he had before, realizing what he took for granted and how serious his life now was. This is accented further by Ysale and Papalymo’s sacrifices, sending him into Stormblood thinking he is nothing but a harbinger of death. So the call to do good for a people is what lets him keep going into the next phase with Lyse once more at his side.

Stormblood
With Lyse’s identity revealed, her relationship with Orion is able to deepen into what will be the rock he needs to survive the events of the next year and a half. He is drawn to help the cause because of his father’s tribe being from the Fringes initially, but after the attack on Rhalgr’s Reach it becomes more than personal.Having never completed his DRK training, in his fight with Zenos, Fray makes himself known and possessed Orion’s form turning him into someone else entirely until Zenos struck him down. Only then does Orion manage to gather back the ability to cage the darkness in a writing soul. His sole focus becomes revenge for a short time, eager to end Zenos’ life for many reasons but above them being his harm to Y’shtola.Motivation wanes when he is brought to Doma but his focus is kept tight by Lyse’s own to finish what was started. As he sat before Zenos’ lifeless body at the Royal Menagerie, the echo of “my first friend” in his ears, Orion feels lost more than ever. What the world is and what he thought it was are in a battle for his mind and that war only comes to an end when the scions begin to fall one by one leading into Ghymlit Dark.

Shadowbringers
The First was initially a test of patience for Orion as his arrival was met with much irritation not knowing where the other scions were. His main focus was finding Y’shtola and Alisaie, uncaring of much else until he was made aware of their locations. Though he was unwell being told that he could not go to Y’shtola right away, it would end up serving him better in the long run. For once the first lightwarden was slain and his place was further solidified, he settled in the First. For the first time he felt as if it was something only he could do rather than just anyone else with the echo.Throughout the events of Shadowbringers he found himself distancing from the other scions, save from Urianger who remained his teacher in astrological arts and a quiet confidante. Between the light poisoning drawing him more introverted and aggressive than he ever had been, his solitude was joined most often by Granson as he could trust him to remain. It was only after Hades was defeated and his soul leveled once more between dark and light did he recenter on the rest of the group.Past that, his focus again narrowed on the sole task of returning everyone, including G’raha, home. There was little he was willing to bother with between 5.1–5.3 apart from business with Cyella as she was an important part of the second family he had managed to create at the Wandering Stairs. Those realizations would further push his desire to get home as what Ardbert and the other Warriors of Light gave for them to press on for both worlds. With the beginning of the Final Days upon them, Orion stepped into another fire and found himself overwhelmed. Pushing forward only remained possible with G’raha now at his side to balance him. He need not be a leader alone any longer.

Endwalker
The end of days was, as one could imagine, stressful for Orion to deal with but the biggest issue that faced him was that the lands he was being brought to were more than just foreign but falling apart at the seams. There was no initial view of Thavnair that wasn’t colored with some amount of fear after he had longed to visit and speak with the dancers of that region for a long time. Panic and chaos seemed to rule and were it not for G’raha’s continual guidance and the allowance of none at all with Estinien as a friend, he might’ve just burst at the seams. But nothing got to him with such a lasting effect than Elpis. Every moment he was there felt like something was breaking in him. Small cracks being tapped into a giant iceburg and eventually under the pressure of being pushed it would shatter. Hades and Hythlodaeus were known to him in ways so unlike that which he would then learn and while he is fortunate for what memories he was able to make, he almost wishes he also forgot them when Hermes set everything off. It would be easier not to mourn what he didn’t know, but he did and he had to live with that.Ultimately, if he were asked about the latter part, all that remains clear to him is Ultima Thule. He won’t speak on it if asked, refusing even the scions if they dared to ask. Hopelessness nearly claimed him after G’raha sacrificed himself and he was drawn from the edge by the twins if only barely. He was hazy around the edges for so much of the end only to become terrifyingly sharp against the Endsinger and almost unrecognizably feral toward Zenos in their final fight.Anything that kept him from G’raha was worth killing at that point so when Zenos asked and baited about the truth of his desires, he bother a response. He simply lunged, greatsword conjured in his hands and set to end what he wished had ended all that time ago in the Menagerie. His earned time off, and subsequent engagement in 6.1 being derailed by the thirteenth was… very difficult. He didn’t want to go. He didn’t care. Zero seemed uninterested and he couldn’t find the energy to try. Did he do as he was supposed to and fight? Of course. Is he still bitter about it? Naturally. After that ended, no one really heard from him (apart from G’raha) for nearly six months until he was summoned to Sharlayan for Wuk Lamat’s arrival. As Tural approaches, his separation anxiety is quite high with G’raha staying behind but he hopes to at least have some fun in the competition before predictably forcing G’raha to come with him.
